Post Doc at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory - PNNL My goals are to push the limits of technology to the fundamental limit, especially using materials science and engineering. I love to challenge convention and am visionary with respect to materials research, innovation, and custom equipment design. My vast skills do not limit my capabilities. I can readily learn and develop unfamiliar and abstract techniques or concepts. Materials discovery, research, and development is the key to a sustainable future and outperforming the competition via the most powerful technological advancements possible. I designed, specified, built, and modified all types of equipment to achieve specific results. My PhD thesis was to study the optical properties of complex oxides where I developed a unique and explicit method for modeling the band gap, a previously unexplored and extremely vital field. I have synthesized world class epitaxial complex oxide films & heterostructures, and III-N LED's. I thoroughly characterized and verified material quality and properties using XRD, XRR, RBS, RHEED, VAS-Ellipsometry, XPS/UPS, VSM, 4-point resistivity, Van der Pauw, AFM, and more. I published several peer reviewed and cited articles, making significant contributions to my field of research. I developed a reputation as a creative and flexible hands-on problem solver, and critical thinker. I am always seeking new opportunities to push the envelope and discover, develop, improve, and optimize new materials, synthesis methods, characterization techniques, and ideas. Specialization in pseudomorphic heteroepitaxy, perovskite oxides, semiconductors, thin films, materials characterization, electronic/optical/magnetic materials, and multiferroic materials.
